Renal Cell Carcinoma Showing Glomerulus-Like Structures
نویسنده
چکیده
In 1938, Owen described a malignant renal neoplasm with a peculiar histological pattern. The peculiarity consisted in the tumour cells forming glomerular structures made up of cuboidal cells with clear cytoplasm, indistinct borders and round hyperchromatic nuclei. The glomerular structures had no vascular tufts but showed, at the periphery, a limiting membrane lined by cuboidal cells in one or more layers. On the basis of the structural resemblance to glomeruli of the normal kidney, and under the belief that the neoplasm had originated in an embryonal rest of metanephric vesicle prior to the penetration of the glomerular portion by capillary tufts, Owen proposed the name ' glomeruloma' for the neoplasm. He also collected from the literature 8 additional cases of renal tumours with a similar histology, as instances of ' glomerulomasBosse (1940) reported a case of ' carcinoma of the kidney with glomerulus-like neoplastic structures ' and critically analysed the 9 cases of ' glomeruloma ' cited by Owen (loc. cit.). He concluded that the

Duodenal Metastases From Renal Cell Carcinoma Presented With Melena: Review and Case Report
Renal cell carcinoma (RCC) metastasis to duodenum is very rare and only a few case reports are available in the literature. We here reported a patient with solitary duodenal metastasis presented with melena six years after right nephrectomy. The patient underwent upper gastrointestinal endoscopy showing ulcerative mass at the second portion of duodenum and biopsy of this mass was consistent wit...

Recently multiple cutaneous leiomyomas, uterine leiomyoimatosis and renal cancer have been described as a cancer syndrome with autosomal dominant pattern of inheritance. We report a 79-year-old man who presented with multiple hyperkertotic erythematous nodules on his right leg with histological diagnosis of pilar leiomyoma. In his past medical history several systemic co...
متن کاملAlteration of Gene Expression Signatures of Cortical Differentiation and Wound Response in Lethal Clear Cell Renal Cell Carcinomas
Clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) is the most common malignancy of the adult kidney and displays heterogeneity in clinical outcomes. Through comprehensive gene expression profiling, we have identified previously a set of transcripts that predict survival following nephrectomy independent of tumor stage, grade, and performance status. These transcripts, designated as the SPC (supervised pr...
متن کاملMetastatic Renal cell Carcinoma Presenting as a clear-cell Tumor in Tongue: A Case Report
Introduction: Metastatic lesions of the oral cavity are extremely rare, accounting for approximately 1% of all malignant oral tumors. The most common primary sources of metastatic tumors in the oral region are, from the most to the least common, the breast, lung, kidney, bone, and colon. Renal cell carcinoma accounts for nearly 3% of all adult malignancies. It usually metastasizes to the lungs,...
متن کاملQuick Score and H-Score Assessment of P504s (AMACR) Expression in Renal Cell Carcinoma (RCC) and Relation with Histologic Grade
Background and Aims: P504S (AMACR) is a mitochondrial enzyme expressed in renal cell carcinoma. Some of immunohistochemical markers in renal cell tumors are independent prognostic factor and show relation with histologic grading. AMACR expression increases with higher histological grading in different tumors; however, in RCC it is not obvious. In this study, we tried to investigate if ...
